School life at St. Margaret's is distinctive as the school rests on the banks of the Rappahannock and is located in downtown Tappahannock. Students can spend a Saturday morning on our beach and walk five minutes to a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, or lunch at a favorite restaurant. The distinct location allows students to access all the amenities of small-town living - all within walking distance from the campus.
While academics and studying are priorities, life outside the classroom is active and entertaining. You become part of a sisterhood of friends from around the world who learn, live, and play together, building strong bonds and creating cherished memories. It is a place of kindness and safety - as it has been for over 100 years.
We share particular virtues based on our Honor Code, respect and trust one another to maintain a high level of personal integrity reflected in our motto, "May we grow in grace." Our Prefects ensure St. Margaret's is a place where the voices of our community are heard and valued.
We have fun together in residential life activities. We go boating, fishing, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, paddle boarding, sailing, swimming, and just relaxing with friends on the docks and beach.
We have many clubs for girls with diverse interests, and our athletic program forges teamwork and perseverance in competition. We desire each girl to find her voice in mind, body, and spirit. Our social calendars are filled with shopping, eating out, and attending socials with Blue Ridge, Fork Union, Foxcroft, and Woodberry Forest. We take trips to Richmond, Washington, D.C., other schools, cultural events, plus rooting for our Scotties at home and away games. There is time for you to pay attention to your personal well-being, and time for you to try new things.
