St. Margaret’s School Student Selected for Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad Program
(Tappahannock, VA) – St. Margaret’s School is pleased to announce Lauryn Ford from the Class of 2023 was chosen by the U.S. Department of State to receive a scholarship and participate in the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad Program. Lauryn will travel to Sofia, Bulgaria, to study abroad during the 2023-2024 academic year. The senior was chosen as a finalist from a pool of over 2,100 applicants (3% acceptance rate). She has been accepted to several universities and is in the process of making her final decisions on acceptance and notifying them of her decision to defer entrance for one year.
Per the program’s website, “the YES Abroad program provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students to develop a perspective of another culture first-hand.”
“Lauryn is an exemplary student and approaches her studies with great discipline,” said Head of School Colley Bell. “We are very proud of her achievement and know she will flourish in the YES Abroad program as well as on the campus of her future college.”
