Author, Educator Jonathan A. Cook, PhD., Joins St. Margaret’s School English Department Brings over 30 years of teaching experience
(Tappahannock, Va.) - As the second semester begins, St. Margaret’s School is pleased to welcome Jonathan A. Cook, PhD., to its English department. Dr. Cook is a teacher, literary scholar, and musician from northern Virginia. He will teach AP Language, American Literature, and Argumentative Writing.
Cook has a B.A. from Harvard College and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Over the last 30 years, he has taught literature and writing at various institutions, most recently at Middleburg Academy. He is also a literary scholar with a focus on nineteenth-century American literature. A specialist in the writings of Herman Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne, he has published an extensive roster of books and articles.
“Jonathan is a highly respected educator, and we are thrilled to welcome him to St. Margaret’s faculty,” said Head of School Colley Bell. “His passion for teaching literature is unmatched, and our students will be well prepared for college thanks to his instruction and creativity in the classroom.”
