St. Margaret’s School Daingerfield Merit Scholarship Available to New and Returning Day Students

(Tappahannock, VA) – St. Margaret’s School is accepting applications for its Daingerfield Merit Scholarship from new and returning day students in grades 8-12 who live in the Rappahannock Valley. Day students residing in the following counties are eligible: Caroline, Essex, Gloucester, King George, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Westmoreland, and the City of Fredericksburg. The scholarship is funded by the Daingerfield Trust, which was established by George W. Daingerfield, a friend of St. Margaret’s School.

A Scholarship Committee will choose the recipients of this Scholarship. Students selected for the Daingerfield Merit Scholarship may also receive need-based financial aid. The scholarship covers a portion of tuition, and award amounts vary.

Applications for the Daingerfield Merit Scholarship are due on January 31, 2023.

Who can be a Daingerfield Scholar?
Any day student in the Rappahannock Valley who demonstrates:
• an exceptional academic record,
• a commitment to integrity and honor,
• frequent and thoughtful contributions to school life beyond academics to include participation in the arts, athletics, and/or leadership, and,

How do you apply to be a Daingerfield Scholar?
For new students interested in being considered for a Daingerfield Merit Scholarship, please write a letter to the Scholarship Committee (admit@sms.org) and address one of the following:
• How have you demonstrated academic excellence at your current school?
• What are some examples of how you have acted with integrity and honor in your community?
• Describe your contributions to your community in the arts, athletics, and/or leadership this school year.
