St. Margaret’s and Aylett Country Day Schools Present New Summer Camp
Educational, river-centric camp will be led by VAIS Teacher of the Year  Richard Moncure

(Tappahannock, Va.) - Summer is coming. Spend it on the river! St. Margaret’s School, in partnership with Aylett Country Day School, is pleased to offer a new summer camp in July. Open to boys and girls aged 10-15, “Summer on the River” will be led by Richard Moncure, the Virginia Association Independent Schools Teacher of the Year and a science teacher at ACDS.

Campers will ‘learn by doing’ with action-packed days filled with research and plenty of fun. A typical day will include pulling crab pots, identifying river species, sailing, kayaking, swimming, and more. Space is limited to 20 campers per week! Families can reserve their spot online: www.sms.org/camps. Sessions our $550/week, and shuttle service is available in Fredericksburg, Mechanicsville, and Kilmarnock, VA (fees apply).

“At St. Margaret’s, we believe the Rappahannock River is the perfect classroom. This camp is an extension of our unique S.T.R.E.A.M. (science, technology, river, engineering, arts, math) college-prep curriculum,” said St. Margaret’s Head of School Colley Bell. “There is no one better to lead this great opportunity than Richard Moncure and no better educational partner for us than Aylett Country Day.”

Situated on the banks of the Rappahannock River, St. Margaret’s is well-equipped for learning and fun on the water. The main campus has a swimming pool and two docks, along with a floating dock at its Hoskins Creek Athletic Facility. Campers will have access to sunfish sailboats, motor boats, pontoons boats, jet skis, canoes, and more.

“Partnering with St. Margaret’s on this new camp was a natural fit for Aylett Country Day,” said ACDS Head of School Tara Garner. “Both of our schools value the river for its educational opportunities and its natural beauty. Richard Moncure is a cherished member of the ACDS faculty, and he will inspire campers with his innovative teaching style.”
